Why converting a PDF is not trivial
A ZUGFeRD or Factur-X invoice is a PDF with a structured XML file inside it. Attaching some XML to a PDF is easy. Getting the XML right is not: every amount, VAT rate, address, IBAN and reference has to be read from the PDF, mapped to the correct field of EN 16931 and checked for consistency. A PDF stores text positions, not meaning, so a total may be misread or a VAT ID taken from the wrong party.
And the XML is what counts. In Germany, where the PDF and the embedded XML differ, the XML takes precedence. A converter that guesses silently would produce invoices that look right and are wrong.
What the converter will do
- Read your PDF invoice and extract the invoice data.
- Show every extracted field next to the PDF, with uncertain values marked, so that you can confirm or correct them.
- Recalculate the totals and run the same EN 16931 checks (and the XRechnung rules where relevant) that our validator uses.
- Produce a ZUGFeRD / Factur-X file in a profile that meets the German requirements, ready for you to send through your usual channel.
You remain responsible for the content of your invoice. The converter helps you produce a correct file; it does not decide your VAT treatment.
Pricing: pay per file
There will be no subscription. You pay for the files you convert, nothing else. Prices will be published before launch.

Use the form on this page to be told when the converter is available. No payment is taken and nothing is collected beyond what you type into the form. You can ask us to delete your entry at any time.
Before launch we will also explain where your file is processed during conversion. The viewer and validators on this site run entirely in your browser and that does not change.
Frequently asked questions
When will the converter be available?
There is no fixed date yet. Join the waitlist and you will be told when it opens.
How much will it cost?
It will be charged per file, without a subscription. We will publish prices before launch rather than promise numbers now.
Can I simply save my invoice as PDF/A and attach XML myself?
Technically yes, but the XML has to contain correct, complete invoice data in the right structure. That is the hard part, and it is what the converter will help with.
Will the result be accepted as an e-invoice in Germany?
The converter will produce a profile accepted by the German rules and check it before download. Whether the content is correct, for example the VAT rate, remains your responsibility.
Will it send the invoice for me?
No. You download the file and send it as you do today. We are not a transmission platform.
Can I convert to XRechnung as well?
That is under consideration. Tell us in the waitlist form if you need it.
